Project Coordinator

 

OVERVIEW:

The Senior Pride Network Niagara is seeking an experienced Project Coordinator to take the lead to develop and deliver our new educational campaign. The project aims to:

  • Increase understanding of 2SLGBTQI+ issues in relation to older adults and the service providers who care for them.
  • Build the capacity of the community support services sector to respond to these issues.
  • Develop a 2SLGBTQI+ educational module and toolkit.

The successful candidate will work with the Senior Pride Network Niagara Steering Committee to ensure the project deliverables are ready for distribution within the timelines outlined in the grant agreement.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Status:                         Part-time, 5 – 7-month contract (June 01, 2023 – January 31, 2024)

Compensation:          $20,000 (Amount depends on hours worked and actual length of project)

Hours:                         Project outcome based, flexible hours

Supervisor:                 Delegated Steering Committee Representative      

 

PRIMARY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Key Deliverables / Project Outcomes:

  • Collaborate with educational consultant(s) and committee to determine the best way to design and implement sensitivity “train the trainer” modules/tool kits for use across regional organizations, in health and well being, that serve seniors so that they can provide improved services to 2SLGBTQI+ seniors.
  • Boosting of the Senior Pride Network Niagara online presence including a web and social media ­­campaign
  • Volunteer Recruitment

 

Interpersonal Connections

The Project Coordinator must be personable, able to develop rapport with representatives of other agencies in the region of Niagara, within the Senior Pride Networks and funders.

Leading volunteers and/or student placements during the project may be a component depending on the agreement of the steering committee and the project timelines.

 

Coordination

Monthly duties associated with coordination of administrative needs include:

  • support for Chair, Board and Bookkeeper support.
  • manage emails, mail, bills, banking, receipts, phone messages.
  • Assist Board Chair in printing and set up of all Steering Committee and Board meeting documents. Provide minutes. Produce and distribute Board monthly calendar.
  • Liaise with Treasurer/Bookkeeper on weekly invoices and deposits, enter all basic funder data including event income and issue all receipts in a timely manner. Manage weekly folders on petty cash and signature protocols with Treasurer on all invoices to be paid.

 

Communication

  • This position must be able to manage the basic communication platforms of SPNN and support the communication needs of other positions while working to eliminate overlap on any and all communications forums. In liaison with the appointed Steering Committee member manage the branding consistency, posting, reposting and profile of SPNN on the website.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Education:

  • Two-year College Diploma in Public Health, Planning, Gerontology, Community Development or related field.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum 2 years experience coordinating programs and or projects.

Character Traits:

  • Warm and outgoing with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills must manage own work agenda in keeping with activity of SPNN and it’s Steering Committee.
  • High degree of initiative and ability to complete assigned tasks and responsibilities despite interruptions.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail with a concern for quality.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively and assist with all aspects of operating a small non-profit.

Proficient use of:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Google platforms including Google Docs
  • Ability to manage communications platforms including website, Facebook, Instagram, and media releases.

Other important factors:

  • Own transportation required.
  • Satisfactory police clearance
  • Working conditions: Days, duration, and times to be agreed upon with the Chair/Supervisor. Some early morning, evening and weekend hours are required. As agreed, upon with SPNN “office” may be a home office or other space borrowed by SPNN. In addition, if working from a home office, a minimum Wi-Fi speed will need to be established. (at least 10 Mbps of download speed and 1 Mbps of upload speed of dedicated internet bandwidth for each person working from home. That’s enough internet speed to allow for a couple of different connections at the same time without interruptions.)
